Phoenix Youth Orchestra

The Phoenix Youth Orchestra was formed in September 2000, and many of its members go on to further education within music.

Phoenix Youth Orchestra

The Phoenix Youth Orchestra offers young people of secondary school age the opportunity to receive high quality guidance and training in the skills of orchestral playing, along with the enjoyment of playing a  wide variety of exciting music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We have a stimulating schedule of rehearsals with a wide variety of music.

We hold regular auditions for entry into the Phoenix Youth Orchestra, both for members currently in other orchestras of BOYM, and new members looking to join for the first time. We are currently on the look out for any brass players!

Our Conductor: David McCallum plays trumpet in the BBC Concert Orchestra and is an experienced teacher and conductor.     Rehearsals: These happen most Friday evenings between 6:45 and 9:00. There is also at least one all-day workshop on a Sunday, where professional musicians come in and take sections in indivudual rehearsals. All rehearsals take place at the Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School in Queens Road, Brentwood.

Fees: £70 per term, to be paid by Standing Order
