AUTUMN TERM 2010

We will shortly be sending out our Autumn Term information by email. We will also be sending out a Standing Order form, as we be asking all members to pay termly by Standing Order to cut down on our administrative costs. If you have difficulties with this, please let us know at our email address. There will also be a Diversity Monitoring Form which we would be very grateful if you could fill in as it will help us ensure we are reaching all members of the community that we can, and be able to demonstrate this to our funders. As ever, if you are experiencing any type of financial difficulties, please contact us so we can discuss our bursaries/grants for our fees.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Well done to everyone who played in all the wonderful BOYM summer concerts. The Phoenix Youth Orchestra 10th Anniversary concert was especially memorable because it brought together orchestra members and supporters from throughout the PYO's history, and beyond! This is a link to photos that Chris Bain took on the day: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/cnkbain/2010Phoenix?feat=directlink (you may have to cut and paste it into your browser window).

CD ORDERS

Just a reminder that CDs are available for all the summer concerts, price £3. Please contact Liz at boym@btinternet.com.

SWEET CHARITY!

Brentwood's Orchestras for Young Musicians is now proud to be a registered charity! Our registration number is 1136208. As well as giving us even more credibility, we hope this will mean we can raise more money by claiming Gift Aid on contributions, as well as being eligible to apply for funding from more Grant-Making Trusts, and being more tax-efficient.

T-SHIRTS

The BOYM T-Shirt and Sweatshirt Shop will be open at the Brentwood Ursuline School during the autumn term. Details will be posted here. If you need any more information, please email Jann at jannkgt@btinternet.com.

PERCUSSION SCHOOL

BOYM will be starting an exciting new venture in the Summer Term 2010. We will be holding group percussion lessons at the Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School from 6 - 7.30pm on Friday nights. Students will be taught by enthusiastic young percussion specialists from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and will work towards TrinityGuildhall percussion exams. The cost is £60 for a course of 10 lessons. For more information, please email us at boym@btinternet.com.

ROTARY CONCERT

Thank you to all the members of the Phoenix Youth Orchestra who played at the Rotary Concert at St Thomas' Church, Brentwood on 13th March. Everyone agreed it was a really superb performance. We hope to get some of the sound files up on the website shortly. Watch this space!

CONCERTS

Every orchestra is involved in at least 2 concerts each year. Most of our concerts are at Brentwood's Ursuline Convent High School, however we also perform at St Thomas' in Brentwood, Brentwood Cathedral, Holly Trees Primary School and Bishops Hall. Some of our orchestras have been involved with Music For Youth National Festival in London and we held a large scale Gala Concert at Chelmsford Civic Theatre on 29th March 2009 hosted by Aled Jones.
